British Baseball Returns

 
 

The return of baseball is a great way to be physically, socially and mentally engaged through sport.

Several baseball clubs are offering a gradual return to baseball activities as the government lockdowns ease between now and June. Going forward there are over 800 baseball games already scheduled!

British clubs throughout the country offer baseball coaching, practices and games for children your age. All youth activities lead up to the British Baseball Federation Youth National Baseball Championships scheduled for the Autumn. Expect teams from all age groups and from across the country to compete.

Little League

 
 

To be a part of Little League in the UK, your club/team must be registered with the National Governing Body (NGB) of the sport e.g., British Baseball Federation (BBF).

Universal Little League Baseball Age Groups

Tee Ball (ages 4-7)

Minor League (ages 5-11)

Major Division (ages 9-12) *

Intermediate (50/70) (ages 12-13) *

Junior League (ages 12-14) *

Senior League (ages 13-16) *

* Age groups only eligible to advance to Europe to play and represent the UK

The UK Little League Qualifiers are scheduled for June, with the winners scheduled to represent the UK at the Little League International European/African Regional Tournament in Kutno, Poland later this summer. Winners in Poland go on to the Little League World Series in Williams Port, PA, (USA) in August

GB Baseball teams for your age group!!

The Great Britain Baseball National Team Programme is scheduled to hold tryouts for U12, U15, U18, U23, Seniors and Women's teams. If you have a British passport and would like to represent your country this summer, register your interest with the relevant coach on the BBF website.

Great Britain is only one of 21 countries to have a National Team for every age group and is ranked 31st globally!

Women's Baseball League

2021 is the inaugural year of the British Baseball Women's Baseball League which starts in May. The Women's League will be dedicated to women only and will have eight teams. The Women's League baseball doubleheaders will be held on Saturdays across the country. Teams and divisions include:

RBI Wales have started baseball and softball sessions for juniors at Llandaff Fields, Cardiff.

Juniors (10 & under): Thursdays 6pm
Baseball under 13s: Mondays 6pm
14+ Mondays 7.15
Softball (not soft! just a bigger ball!) under 13s Tuesdays: 7pm
14+ Tuesdays: 7pm

So if you’re a girl starting out in baseball it’s exciting to know there’s a women’s league to continue in the sport.

There are many benefits in trying out baseball. It's fun, there are many opportunities, it provides physical activity, it's for everybody and as it's a team sport there are great social opportunities too.

There are LOTS OF options to progress in the sport from youth to adult (seniors leagues, women's league, and the Great Britain National Teams).
