New Olympic Sports Announced

The exciting news that five new sports have been added to the Olympic Games 2028 in Los Angeles, LA28. Some of these sports you may be surprised to learn have previously been Olympic sports but Squash and Flag Football make their debut and all of them are brilliant additions to the ultimate competition that everyone wants to win.

Baseball/Softball: A fast growing sport in the UK and already hugely popular in a number of other countries including Canada and the USA, it is fantastic to see that baseball and softball will be a new addition to the Olympics in 2028. The opportunities to play these sports has grown enormously and if you visit www.baseballsoftballuk.com you can see how to get involved or progress your game. Check out our latest article here.

Squash: This is a sport that I am sure many of you will be surprised has not previously been an Olympic sport. With opportunities to play in the majority of local leisure centres across the country it is accessible, fast paced and great fun. The set up can initially be quite daunting but we were lucky to have squash legend, and current world number 29, Nathan Lake talk our readers through how to play – check out his videos here. Also visit www.englandsquash.com www.squashwales.com or www.scottishsquash.org for playing opportunities near you.

Cricket. Cricket last featured at the Olympics in 1900 – which will make it 128 years since it has been an Olympic Sport! The format is yet to be decided but we know our readers will be very pleased about its inclusion.

Flag Football. As you know, American Football is huge in America and so there was great excitement when Flag Football was approved by the International Olympic Committee for inclusion in LA28. It has never been a sport played at the Olympics before but it is the fastest growing sport in the UK and we are sure that there will be huge competition for players to be part of the team.

Lacrosse. Another sport that has not been part of the Olympics for over 100 years, Lacrosse was last part of the listed sports in 1904 and 1908. Traditionally a women’s sport in the UK, there is a growing men’s game and in America the sport is incredibly popular for men and women.
