National School Sport Week

The annual National School Sport Week campaign takes place in the last week of June every year to celebrate the important role of Physical Education and school sport in improving young people's wellbeing.

This year, the Youth Sport Trust has teamed up with Sky Sports to run a national campaign which will aim to unite the country - families, schools, sport and businesses - in a celebration of the power of sport to bring people together at this very difficult time.

The UK-wide campaign will challenge people to take on their families, friends and neighbours in virtual sporting challenges.

How it works

We will provide everyone who registers with free videos and activity cards to help you plan a series of challenges across National School Sport Week at Home. You will receive these well in advance of the week itself so you'll have plenty of time to plan your activities.

They will be things you can do within the home, and where you can engage in virtual competition with friends, neighbours and family outside your home.

We will also provide you with ideas for sharing your challenges online during the week using the hashtag #NSSWtogether.

Free Home Resources

We have made a huge range of activities and resources available on our website. to keep young people active while they are at home.

From PE at home to 60 second activities, there is something for everyone. The activities are fully explained and most come with either a downloadable activity card or video, so you can be sure you are doing it right!

We are also encouraging people to share what they are up to using the hashtag #StayHomeStayActive

Below you can try the bingo game and the following challenges that were also in last months edition. We have had some great feedback about these activities, so if you haven’t tried them yet, give them a go! With thanks to Complete P.E. and the Youth Sport Trust.

School Games and TopYa!

The School Games Active Championships is a national activity campaign to help young people across the UK to #StayInWorkOut using the video-based platform powered by TopYa!. New challenges will be available every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to engage with.

Primary and secondary-aged children can join the School Games Active Championships at any time with free active challenges being set via videos within a designated School Games version of the TopYa! Active app. All they need to do is download the app, register as a player and type in the Invite Code 23880.

Children practise the challenges, then submit their best video using a mobile device to receive personal coaching feedback from the TopYa! team of experienced virtual coaches. Points are earned for each video submitted, leading to climbing leaderboards and winning prizes!

TopYa!

The TopYa! Active app is committed to online safety and meets rigorous COPPA and GDPR safeguarding standards. No one can communicate within the app. All children can do to communicate with one another is give each other a virtual ‘high-five’, which functions like a social media ‘like’.

Video content is suitable for young people of all ages and abilities, with regular submissions from National Governing Bodies of Sport.

How do I get involved?

Find a tutorial video on downloading the TopYa! Active app, which you can share with teachers and parents, here

Children:

  1. Download the TopYa! Active app from the App Store or Google Play

  2. Create your Player (child) account

  3. When prompted to enter an Invite Code enter 23880 and then choose Primary or Secondary School League based on which type of school you attend

If you are under 13 years old, ask your parent or guardian set up the TopYa! Active account first, and then create player (child) accounts afterwards.
