Table tennis is a fast, exciting and inclusive sport that absolutely anyone can play – and it’s easy for young people to get into it at clubs and schools all over the country.

One of the best ways to start if you are aged 7-to-11 is by TT Kidz, which is run by Table Tennis England. It’s an eight-week course which teaches all the basic skills you need to have a great game of table tennis and to inspire you to keep playing the sport.

Since TT Kidz was launched in 2019, hundreds of children have enjoyed it and many have gone on to join their local club, or playing table tennis regularly at school. Who knows, maybe one day some of them will be good enough to play for their country!

Even lockdown could not stop TT Kidz, as online sessions were held over Zoom for people to join in at home or at school – with some special guests joining in, including England player and Commonwealth Games medallist Maria Tsaptsinos.

If you’re older, why not see if there is a table tennis club at your school – or maybe even help to start one. It’s an affordable sport for schools, inclusive for all pupils, and with a table that is 2.74m long, it’s even easy to stay socially distant while playing!

There are hundreds of table tennis clubs all over the country too, which welcome new young players and have coaches to help you improve and find out what you are capable of achieving.

Table Tennis England can give you all the help and advice you need, including offers on equipment for schools and where to find your local clubs. Find out more at tabletennisengland.co.uk
