Have you heard of the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf championship?
More than 20,000 U18 golfers - boys and girls - are taking part in this year's championship throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
It is open to anyone aged under 18 at midnight on Jan 1 2021 (with a golf handicap*).

The competition has helped produce major stars including Justin Rose, Melissa Reid, Tommy Fleetwood, Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Matt Fitzpatrick and 2019’s winners Ben Schmidt and Mimi Rhodes look certain to follow in their illustrious footsteps.
Format
There are two separate competitions - gross and net. The winners of each are then entered onto the national leaderboards.
Hundreds of qualifying events have been taking place throughout the UK & ROI from March – Sept.
Gross
The top 12 boys and top 12 girls from the National Gross Leaderboards (plus a chaperone in 2021) qualify for a place in the final (top 12 made up of top 11 from the leaderboards, plus 2 sponsors invites). The finalists then compete at the Grand Final over 54 holes for the ultimate Junior Golf Boys & Girls Champion titles respectively.
Net
The top 3 boys and 3 girls from the National Net Leaderboards win a trip for them and a chaperone to the final. The experience includes the chance to play a couple of rounds at the final venue and a coaching session with one of the venue’s professionals.
Final
The final will take place at the prestigious Walton Heath Golf Club from Tuesday Oct 5 - Friday Oct 8 this year and is seen as the unofficial Major of junior golf.
Walton Heath staged the 2018 British Masters hosted by Justin Rose on the European Tour, The Ryder Cup in 1981, The Senior Open presented by Rolex in 2011 and will, in 2023, host the AIG Women’s Open.

Justin Rose attended the final in 2019 as a surprise for the finalists, during his time at the final he met the finalists, signed items for the finalists, as well as hosted a clinic.
Justin Rose said: I’m delighted that the Championship has returned in 2021. It is great to stage the final at Walton Heath, where I hosted the British Masters a few years ago on the Tour. After the 2020 postponement, I’ve brought it back with a real boost, having more net category winners in both the boys and girls sections, increasing the grassroots opportunities for a place at the final. 2019 was an amazing final at Quinta do Lago, providing us with two great champions who I got to meet and see play first hand. I can’t wait to see what the class of 2021 has to show us at the final this year!
