Cricket - The Hundred

What is The Hundred?

This summer The Hundred is launching – it’s a new 100 ball cricket competition, with some of the world’s best players taking part.

Stars like Ben Stokes, Sophie Devine, Jos Buttler, Eoin Morgan, Jofra Archer and Tammy Beaumont are going to be playing for one of the eight new teams, based in the biggest cities in England and Wales.

So how does it work?

  • It's 100 balls per innings. Whoever scores the most runs wins.

  • The bowling changes ends after 10 balls

  • Bowlers bowl 5 or 10 balls consecutively.

  • A match of The Hundred will last approx. two and a half hours.

There will also be music, entertainment and great food at each match during the competition, meaning it’ll be a great event for all the family.

When does it start?

The great thing about The Hundred is that all of the matches will be on during the school summer holidays. The first match in the women’s competition will be on Wednesday 21st July when Oval Invincibles take on the Manchester Originals at the Oval in London.

The men’s competition starts on 22nd July with a match between Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals at the Oval as well.

Throughout the competition most of the other matches will be ‘double headers’ where a men’s match and a women’s match will take place on the same day in the same venue.

Finals day is scheduled for the Saturday 21st August.
